THE RALPH NADER LIBRARY COPYRIGHT NOTICE

What is The Ralph Nader Library?

The Ralph Nader Library, inspired by Ralph Nader's tremendous contributions to the welfare of human beings, is a project of American Buddha, an Oregon nonprofit corporation that makes available selected artistic and literary works under a system of voluntary, free online lending, under the fair use exclusion from copyright liability accorded to libraries and archives pursuant to 17 U.S.C. Section 108.  American Buddha educates members as to the meaning of lawful fair use of copyrighted materials, and imposes contractual and technical limitations on access to the archive.  The Ralph Nader Library contains materials that are protected by copyright, and by accessing this content, library users are agreeing not to violate those copyrights by piratical behavior, i.e., using the materials for anything other than private study, scholarship or research.

LIBRARY COPYRIGHT NOTICE

(37 C.F.R. 201.14)

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.

One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.'' If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use,'' that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
